notes from the coast: matthew turley's collaborations with sea island
As rich in history as it is recreation, the prestigious resort, Sea Island, is a coastal destination for many. Having cultivated a trusted rapport with the island, as well as a seamless working relationship with creatives from The Richards Group, photographer Matthew Turley always looks forward to his next seaside shoot. With 7 beautifully-executed island campaigns under his belt, Turley’s latest images for the resort are no less grand. “We wanted to showcase the various activities they are known for, while also highlighting recent improvements.”
With shot list in hand, Turley and team spent several days among emerald green golf courses, willowed recreation trails and endless Atlantic waters. His emphasis on natural light and unscripted moments not only allows the raw beauty of the space to shine through, but also provides an authentic, inside look at life on the island. “It’s nice to have a slower pace here. We are able to show up knowing what the client needs, without having to rush through anything.”
Matthew’s work for Sea Island began in 2015. “A lot of the fun of going back each time, is seeing the same people again and again. This has been an ongoing relationship, and I really enjoy that."
The team responsible for bringing Matthew on board are creatives Rob Baker and Parker Bell from The Richards Group.
“One of the best aspects of working with Turley for so many years on Sea Island is how consistently well he creates timeless pieces of photography. We are always surrounded by beautiful landscape and architecture there but Turley knows how to capture the beauty in ways you might otherwise miss, giving us and the brand the ability to stand out among similar subject matters. Matt’s photography holds the wonder far longer than other pictures you typically see.” — Rob Baker, Group Creative Head, The Richards Group
