As we near almost 5 months of sheltering in place, Annabelle Breakey has found new ways to stay creative in the midst of the pandemic. “We are still able to work as artists; the way we do it just has to change a little

For many photographers, the beginning of quarantine hung a massive question mark over the promise of continued work. No one knew exactly what the creative terrain would look like. So, when long-time client, Taco Bell, approached Annabelle with their latest campaign, she didn’t waste any time developing a system that would allow for safe shooting.

I open a Zoom meeting at 8:30 in the morning and leave it open all day.” As clients pop in and out online, they not only have a live view of the studio, but Annabelle also streams each image to their screens, so that creative can be shared & discussed in real time. “Since clients can’t always be in the studio these days, I have to really step it up and make sure that what is happening on set, is what they are wanting. Time is of the essence.”

And step it up she has. Having already shot 7 Taco Bell campaigns this year, including the Grubhub images seen here, completing the 8th remotely was a welcomed success.

I was really happy to hear that campaigns wouldn’t be slowing down. The Taco Bell team is wildly creative. They are constantly coming up with fresh ideas and aren’t afraid to do things in an artistic, playful and different way. I really love that.

Included are images shot by Annabelle, pre & post Covid, which just goes to show that, where there is a will, there is a way. Annabelle’s determination and love for creating, no matter the circumstances, truly stands out among the rest.
